Scoliosis

Scoliosis is a 3-dimensional deviation of the spine whereby the spine bends sideways (laterally) and rotates axially. The degree of lateral deviation of a curve is typically measured via ‘Cobb’ measurement taken from an A-P x-ray while the rotation (ATR) is most commonly measured direct on the patient via the widely used ‘Scoliometer’. As we have numerical values to indicate the size of a scoliosis curve and, through multiple studies, we know what factors effect progression and outcome, we are able to apply mathematical formula to make treatment predictions.
